black boys, is student work by Anthony Canzius. We mentored him during our time as Artist-in-Residence 2019 at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD. He is one of three students whose work we chose to publish under Homie House Press while there. He fully grasped and applied the practice at the center of what we do here, which is, crafting narratives that meet at the intersection of personal, political, and poetic. We are very honored to be debuting his work as a photographer and storyteller.  Student work is the best work!

black boys, is a project that explores the ways black male masculinity is evolving and ever changing. Canzius, weaves a beautiful thread through the lives of his friends and shows how ‘black’ and ‘boy’ do not mean one thing. These are multi-faceted entities that birth forth entire worlds when put together in a frame of blackness and boyhood.
